YoHost Linux Hosting FAQ: Email

What is the easiest way to configure Outlook or Outlook Express to check my mail?

In your Control Panel, click on "Add/Remove Accounts." Then click on "Outlook (Express) AutoConfig."

The above shortcut method doesn't work for me. What settings should I use?

Incoming mail POP3 server: mail.your.domain (OR you can use your IP address)
Outgoing mail: Please use your ISP's outgoing mail server.
Username/Password (main account): For the main account mailbox, the username and password are the same ones you use for FTP or CPanel access.
Username/Password for (additional mailboxes): For the username, enter the complete email address, name@your.primary.domain. The password should be whatever you specified when you set up the POP mailbox.

I have several different domain names associated with my account. Can I set up forwarders or POP3 mailboxes for each domain?

On the new server, you can set up forwarders in the control panel. Any POP3 mailboxes apply only to the primary domain for your account, but your account can be configured so that user@pointeddomain.com goes into the same mailbox as user@primarydomain.com.

I have set up a subdomain, sub.mydomain.com. Can I set up mailboxes such as user@sub.mydomain.com?

Yes, you can use the control panel to do this.

Do you offer WebMail so that I can check my mail from any computer connected to the Internet?

Yes. In the control panel, click on "Read Web Mail," or log-in at http://yourdomain.com/webmail/. If you wish to access a user-defined mailbox (instead of the default mailbox), use the complete address, user@your.domain, as the username.
